Glossary

The terms AIPromo uses, explained in plain language.

Real final cost
The amount you actually pay after every eligible discount, coupon and payment offer is applied in the correct order. Later rewards are shown separately.
Effective cost
The real final cost minus rewards you will realistically use later. Useful for comparison, not money saved at checkout.
Statement closing date
The day a credit card statement period ends; purchases posted after it move to the next statement.
Payment due date
The last day to pay a credit card statement without late fees.
Posting date
The date a bank records a purchase, which can be later than the purchase date.
Stacking
Combining several offers on one purchase when their conditions allow it.
Sequential discount
A discount applied to the price after a previous discount, so percentages multiply instead of adding.
Minimum spend
The amount a purchase or period must reach before an offer applies.
Reward cap
The maximum reward a campaign pays per customer, card or period.
Cashback
Money credited back after a purchase, usually days or weeks later.
Loyalty points
Program currency earned on purchases and redeemed for products, travel or credit.
Miles
Airline program points used for flights, upgrades and travel benefits.
Point transfer
Moving points from one program to another at a set ratio, often with minimums, fees and delays.
Installment plan
Splitting a purchase into several payments; it changes timing, not the price.
Eligibility
Whether an offer applies to a specific purchase, card, channel and date. AIPromo treats it as yes, no or unknown.
Campaign period
The dates during which a promotion is valid; participation and reward dates can differ.
